Section Schedule DANC 135 Hip-Hop Dance and Culture This course is an introduction to Hip-Hop technique. In addition, students will develop an understanding of the history, and economic, social, cultural and political context of hip hop dance. Through the lens of cultural studies, students will explore themes of class, race, gender, sexuality, commodification, appropriation, exploitation and cultural resistance, as well as current trends in hip hop dance competition, performance and choreography. Embodied learning will be supplemented through videos, readings, and the completion of written assignments.
